SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 16

Congratulating Fayetteville High School for winning the 1992
Class A football championship of the state of West Virginia.
Whereas, The Fayetteville High School football team proved
to have the best Class A football team in this state; and
Whereas, The Fayetteville High School football team received
total fan support from the entire school and the community of
Fayetteville; and
Whereas, The Fayetteville High School football team ended
the 1992 season with an outstanding 13-1 record; and
Whereas, During the regular season the Fayetteville High
School football team defeated Pineville, 39-0; Gauley Bridge, 47-
8; Meadow Bridge, 18-8; Mount Hope, 7-2; Valley, 17-14; Midland
Trail, 14-0; Mullens, 40-14; Oak Hill, 46-28; and Ceredo Kenova,
38-0; while their only loss was to Clay County, 18-12; and
Whereas, During the playoffs, the Fayetteville High School
football team rolled to the championship by defeating Meadow
Bridge, 21-0; Peterstown, 14-0; Tyler County, 21-14; and Matewan
in the championship game, 15-9; and
Whereas, Coach Frank Spangler, 1992 coach of the year, and
his assistants, William Marshall and Terry Sizemore, and trainer
George Frantz very capably led their team to victory; and
Whereas, The team is composed of the following members: Dave
Canterbury, Bobby Cottle, Steve Dickenson, Stephen Good, John
Goodson, Robert Harris, James Hopkins, Tommy Hull, Philip
Johnson, Mike Linkous, Jeremy Martin, Kenneth McMillion, Bryan
Merchant, Sam Parsons, Jeremy Tolley, Jorge Tome, Will Arritt,
Hubie Blevins, Jason Burdette, Roger Burdette, Bob Mealey,
Raymond Walker, Jeremy Bandy, Jimmy Johnson, Mark Magliano,
Richie Spearen, Matt Tanner, Doug Withrow, Bob Arritt, Chad
McClanahan, Todd McClanahan, Jason Coffey, Dennis Feazell, Shawn
Hibbs, Ricky Myles, Sam Proctor, Jason Wiley and Craig Winter;
and managers Greg Cutright, Jonathan Parsons and Josh Stokes; and
Whereas, Steve Dickenson, Tommy Hull, Robert Harris, Bryan
Merchant, Bob Mealey, Jeremy Tolley, Mike Linkous and Jorge Tome
were selected for the all-Fayette County football team; and
Whereas, Cheerleaders Tracy Myles, Christy Carte, Tammy
Dunlap, Nichole Hall, Heather Hunter, Hilary McKinney, Carrie
Myles and Jessica Smith and mascot Laura Johnson led the spirited
fan support for the team; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of West Virginia hereby recognizes
Fayetteville High School for the outstanding feat of winning the
1992 Class A West Virginia state football championship; and, be
it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the team members, coaching
staff and Fayetteville High School principal Ben Argento.
